Just like his Lagos State counterpart, Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is set to abolish the controversial pensions paid to Ex-Governors and their deputies.
He made the announcement today, 13th November at Ilorin, the State capital.
The announcement comes three days after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced during his 2021 budget presentation at the House of Assembly that he would present the proposal to the legislators for consideration and final action.

He hopes that the lawmakers would immediately repeal the law awarding the unpopular pensions to Governors and their Deputies.
Abdulrazaq explained that his decision is hinged on his campaign mantra and proves that he recognises himself as a product of democracy.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, “The governor has listened to voices of the majority of the citizens opposing the pension law. for former governors and their deputies.
“As a representative of the people, the lawmakers would exercise their discretion to call a public hearing on the topic to further harvest wider opinions on the topic.
Ajakaye added that “the governor feels it is time for the law as it is to give way.
“He would rather the state commits the scarce public funds to tackling the question of poverty and youth unemployment.”
