Earlier today, 24 out of the 34 HONOURABLE members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly exchanged blows in a bid to impeach the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mukhtar Isa Hazo.
This followed a vote of no confidence passed on him during plenary.
The free-for-all fight ensured when a lawmaker representing Makera Constituency Dahiru Liman snatched the mace.
Having successfully impeached Hazo, a new speaker representing Kauru Constituency, Mr Isaac Auta was immediately sworn in as new Deputy Speaker.
Before Mukhtar Isa Hazo’s removal, there were reports that had perfected perfected plans with 7 members of the House to remove the Rt. Hon. Yusuf Zailani – @SpeakerZailani
.. The 7 legislators say they were not happy with his style of leadership.
Zailani told newsmen that among other infractions, the former Deputy Speaker personally undid himself by his questionable antics.
The lawmakers free exchange of blows would probably have escalated if the police and other security personnel had not got wind of the impending fracas.
They promptly stormed the Assembly premises and sealed off all entries and exits.
The fight was taken outside the Assembly hall after the speaker was sworn in with members in more exchange of blows and tearing down each other’s clothes.
