Nigeria’s former Finance Minister has joined calls on the Federal Government of Nigeria to bring back Nigeria’s missing boys.
She made the call last night in reaction to the harrowing kidnaping of over 300 boys from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.
She laments that the incident is “heartbreaking” while the recurrence has become a “nightmare.”
The former Managing Director of World Bank also admonished those using Nigerian children as pawns insisting that they must be held accountable.
According to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala@NOIweala· “The abduction of more than 300 school boys in Katsina is heartbreaking. What a recurring nightmare. My heart goes out to the families of the missing boys. The authorities must do all possible to #BringBackOurBoys! Those using our children as pawns must be held accountable!”
As Finance Minister, Okonjo-Iweala was one of the few Federal Executive Council members who visited Chibok in the wake of the abduction of over 200 students of the girls secondary school.
Her visit was to commiserate with grieving families and evaluate possibilities of securing public schools.
She is the candidate most favoured to become the next Director General of the World Trade Organisation.
The choice of candidate was pruned from 8 to herself and the South Korean Trade Minister, Yoo Myung Hee.
Hee later resigned paving the way for Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Barring further opposition by the U S, she should be sworn in pretty soon.
Meanwhile DCP Abba Kyari has led a team of armed policemen into the forest to search out and rescue the kidnapped children.
The heavily armed team arrived Kankara secondary School yesterday evening.
