A train heading to Kano from Lagos is reported to have been set ablaze by yet to be identified hoodlums.

Sources say that the train was set on fire at the Offa Railway Station in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday.

No casualty was recorded in the incident but reports reveal that the train had a stop-over for repairs at the Offa Railway Station when it was attacked by yet to be identified assailants.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle said that 2 of the 15 coaches of the train conveying goods were completely burnt by fire.

In his words, “The incident occurred about 5.17 pm at Offa Railway Station in Offa, Kwara State. Out of the 15 coaches contained by the affected train, two were burnt due to the rigorous efforts made by firefighters.”

The Fire Service Spokesman said that the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Falade Olumuyiwa appealed to the public not to hesitate to call the fire service on time, anytime there is any fire emergency in their area as this would save lives and properties.
