Sarkin Dawaki Babba of Kano State, Aminu Danagundi has expressed his strong opposition to the appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s as the Emir of Kano.
Danagundi, a prominent figure in the Kano Emirate, noted that Sanusi’s ascension to the throne was driven by political motives and lacked traditional legitimacy.
Danagundi emphasized that Sanusi’s father never held the title of Emir, which, according to him, traditionally disqualifies Sanusi from the position within the Kano Emirate’s customs.
He pointed out the historical precedent, stating that throughout Kano State’s history, no Emir has been appointed whose father did not also hold the title.
The Sarkin Dawaki Babba further alleged that Sanusi’s appointment was facilitated as a result of his financial support for the political campaign of former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
During an interview on Arise Television, Danagundi revealed that ““Sanusi Lamido Sanusi funded the campaign of Kwankwaso, and that was why he was made Emir. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi paid money, and that was why he came back. Even Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said this himself.
