Victims of sexual abuse can now report their assailants on the go as a young lady in Kano has developed an android app to report incidences.
Saadat Aliyu developed the ‘Helpio app’ which she launched on the 6th of August on Playstore.
Ms Aliyu is also the founder of Shamrock Innovations, Women and Youth Centric Tech Innovation Hub in Kano.
She said that anybody can visit the Playstore on an android phone and install the app.
Speaking to Channels Television on Monday, Saadat advised potential users that, “you can go to Playstore, search for it and install it. After installation, you can sign up using email and password either in Hausa or English Language.
“So far, the Initiative for Support of Victims of Sexual abuse, Orphans and Less Privileged (ISSOL) and Equity Destitute, Child Right and Welfare (EDCRAWI) have signed up in the platform.”
When asked how she got into software development, Ms Aliyu said she started learning IT skills from her brother when she was in Junior Secondary School and subsequently became a self thought developer.
She added that her next project will be launched very soon and is also fintech-oriented.
That project aims to impact women and people’s lives by advocating and developing solutions.
Meanwhile, the presidency, speaking through the President’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has acknowledged the young lady’s innovation.
A number of people have taken a swipe on Channels Television for the headline of their online article of the Saadat Aliyu where her name was not mentioned:
احمد خويلد بتوري@mrkhuwailadReplying to @channelstv@channelstv while we appreciate you showcasing a hard work, a little more consideration would have made it worthwhile: I would love the heading to read “A Kano Lady, Saadat Aliyu… She has a name please”!
