Afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti, has urged African leaders to ban British Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, from entering the continent.

Known for his controversial activism just like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, his late father, Seun Kuti said the UK’s opposition party leader should be jailed whenever she enters her continent of origin.

He accused Badenoch of insulting Africans and African ancestors with her colonialism statement

Vice President Kashim Shettima cautioned Kemi against denigrating Nigeria. Kemi, in response, explained that she did not owe the country image-making.

I find it interesting that everybody defines me as being Nigerian. I identify less with the country than with the specific ethnicity (Yoruba)

“I have nothing in common with the people from the north of the country, the Boko Haram where Islamism is.

“Somebody once told me when I was very young that my surname was a name for people who were warriors. They protected the crown, and that’s what I see myself as doing.

“I am here to protect and I will die protecting this country because I know what’s out there,” she said.

Reacting, Seun Kuti said, “Many have been praising this woman [Kemi Badenoch]; someone who has been insulting us, not only us but our ancestors. She said we should pay Europeans for colonialism.

“She’s saying we should pay them for killing millions of our ancestors; for all the atrocities that they committed in our lands.

“She’s someone who should be banned by African governments from stepping into Africa. Once she steps into Africa, she should be jailed.”
