Keyamo Threatens to Resign

Festus Keyamo threatens to resign if the 774,000 jobs promised Nigerians is Hijacked by politicians.

The Minister of State for Labour made this known while inaugurating the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Extended Special Public Works across the 774 local government areas, yesterday, 29th April.

This is sequel to President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval for the recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians for positions within the public works programme.

Speaking during the inauguration of the committee, Keyamo said that the roll-out will begin from 5 local government areas across 8 states comprising Ebonyi, Borno, Adamawa, Kwara Jigawa, Katsina, Ekiti, Edo.

When asked if he could confirm that the program will not be hijacked by politicians, Keyamo threatens to resign saying,

“This is not for PDP of APC, I assure you, it will not happen.

“I will leave this job if they want to insist that it will happen. Mr President is targeting ordinary Nigerians who are neither PDP or APC, nor just anything. They just want to get jobs, they just want to feed their family.

“This is not a time for us to empower our followers as politicians. We are going to dig deep, it is one of the recommendations you are going to make, that is why you are here”

Keyamo Threatens to Resign“Earlier today, as the Supervising Minister of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), I inaugurated the Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee on the FG’s Special Public Works Program designed to employ 1000 (one thousand) persons each in all the 774 LGAs of the federation for a period of 3 months.

“They would be mostly unskilled labour.

“The Committee is chaired by the DG, NDE, Dr. Nasiru Ladan and has representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, Environment, Transportation, Water Resources, Works and Housing and Labour and Employment.”
