The only daughter of a Mubi, Adamawa State Pastor, Daniel Umaru who was kidnapped by terrorists on the 7th of July after her 2 brothers were killed has been released.
The family said that the Pastor and his wife were shot during the invasion and are battling for their lives at a hospital.
They also claimed to have paid a huge sum of money as ransom to secure the release of the teenage girl.
The police however, denied knowledge of any ransom payment insisting that they battled the terrorists, forcing them to set the captive free.
The kidnapped 13-year-old girl was freed early Sunday morning according to family sources.
The family said: “We paid money, a huge amount, before they released her to us in the early hours of today, as of now, both her parents are fighting for their lives at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, due to gunshot injury and trauma,” he added.
Meanwhile, the remains of the two sons who were shot dead on the ill-fated night have been buried amidst wailing by relations and friends of the family.
The remains of the boys were buried side-by-side at the church cemetery in Kwarhi, near Mubi yesterday.
