Kidnapped Job-Seeker Raped, Murdered and Buried in Shallow Grave

News - Women's Perspective

It has been outrage by Nigerians on social media after a missing job-seeker, Iniobong Umoren was allegedly kidnapped, raped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave by her kidnapper.

The deceased is said to have gone for a job interview at an undisclosed location on the 29th of April.

The interview location was to be along Airport Road in the outskirts of Uyo, Cross River State.

Two hours later, she made a desperate phone call to her friend who overheard her screaming. Sadly, the call ended abruptly and the phone has remained switched off.

News of Iniobong’s disappearance went viral on social media going beyond #Akwaibomtwitter community as tech savvy youths deployed their skills to track the kidnapper down using the GPS.

2 days later, all the evidence including locations, contacts and almost every detail needed to unmask Iniobong’s kidnapper was made available to security agents.

The suspect identified as 20-year-old Uduak Frank Akpan is alleged to have taken the late Iniobong to his house where an argument ensued. He then hit her on the head with an object which resulted in her death.

He is also reported to have hurriedly buried her in a shallow grave and ran off to Oron to hide.

As social media pressure and the tracking by the police made Oron uncomfortable for Akpan, he ran back to Uruan.

The Chairman of Uruan Local Government Area, Surv Iniobong Ekpenyong then pressured Akpan’s cousin to produce him.

When he appeared before the Chairman, he was advised to tell the truth and he revealed that he killed Iniobong and buried her in a shallow grave.

The shocked Chairman thereafter, handed him over to the DPO for further investigation. Sadly, Frank is reported to have initially revealed his crime to his councillor, but he allowed him go scot-free.

Reports say that the kidnapped and murdered job-seeker, Iniobong is not Akpan’s only victim as seen in some social media revelations:

·Frank Uduak Akpan; his father, sister, cousin, girlfriend, were all involved. Ini wasn’t their only victim. She was kidnapped, raped, then killed & buried. The father introduced his son to his kidnapping business. This is a psychopathic family, & there are many others like them.

Latest update says the police has refused the victim’s family the opportunity to identify her:
