A professor of Engineering and former Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at Amrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Professor Osadolor Odia who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last Thursday has regained his freedom.
The Professor’s wife, Dr Amraibure confirmed this to newsmen on Sunday. She said her husband was been released on Saturday and has since rejoined his family.
According to her, “I am happy to confirm to you that my husband has been released by the kidnappers. He received treatment for injuries sustained and he has since been discharged from the hospital and rejoined the family.”
When Punch asked her is any ransom was paid, she responded that, “I can’t tell you that. All I can say is that he is hail and hearty.”
Reports say that there has been jubilation in the university community since news of the professor’s release broke.
A source close to the Edo State Police Command also confirmed the cheering saying that, “I also heard that he has been released and that the family held a Thanksgiving service.”
Professor Odia was on his way to his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma on Thursday morning when he kidnapped.
