Kogi State: Protests as INEC Cancels Election in 67 Polling Units (video)

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is reported to have cancelled the governorsship election in 67 polling units in Ogori-Magongo local government area of Kogi State.

The electoral process was cancelled following protest by residents of Magongo community over the written of results on the result sheet while accreditation and voting had not commenced in the polling units.

A source revealed to SaharaReporters that INEC has cancelled election in the area.

The source said, “The election here has been cancelled. The protest has made the INEC officials call off their staff. In all polling unit in Ogori/Magongo local government.”

Reports say that residents of Magongo in Ogori-Magongo local government area of Kogi State are protesting that results have been written on the result sheet while accreditation and voting are even yet to commence.

The residents who stormed at Magongo RAC centre expressed their displeased that officials of the INEC in collaboration with the officials of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had already written results of the various polling units in the local government even before election had started despite all the promised of free and fair election.

Some pre-written results of some polling units showed APC leading, while PDP and SDP had none or two votes.
