Former Kano Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has denied receiving the sum of $600,000 from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement issued on Saturday night by his spokesman, Ibrahim Adamu the former Minister stated that the bribery allegation embarrasses him in his position as the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Kwankwaso, a former Kano Central Senator is specifically accused of receiving $15,000 from Wike for each of the 44 Kano Peoples Democratic Party delegates.
Adamu noted that Kwankwaso announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the 29th of March.
In his words, “It is ridiculous that a Presidential Aspirant will entice an opposition party leader with money to woe delegates from his own party”
“We deny this spurious allegation. We urge the general public to disregard the false information as it is totally false and misleading”
Kwankwaso urged his supporters to be focused, determined, and ignore “stories paid to smear” his “soaring popularity.”
The 811 PDP delegates are made up of one national delegate chosen from each of the 774 LGAs.
Kwankwaso,a presidential aspirant on the platform of the NNPP, was a Minister of Defense while Nyesom Wike is a presidential aspirant of the PDP.
