The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has announced that a young lady suspected to be in her late 30s, on Thursday, jumped into the Lagos Lagoon within the Third Mainland Bridge corridor.
The agency stated that the lady alighted from a cab and jumped into the lagoon.
The driver of the cab alleged that she was in a heated argument with her fiance when she was in his vehicle.
The LRT, Men of Lagos State fire and rescue service, LASWA and officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) immediately mobilized to the scene of the incident to search for the victim.
LASEMA in a statement said, “Upon arrival of the Lagos Respond Team (LRT) at the incident scene, investigation revealed that a lady in her late thirties (30s) plunged into the Lagos lagoon.
“Further investigation revealed that the lady alighted from a Uber taxi car on the bridge and plunged into the lagoon.
“The driver of the taxi claimed that earlier she was having a heated conversation with her fiancé over her mobile phone before alighting and jumping into the lagoon.
“The LRT, Men of Lagos State fire and rescue service, LASWA and officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) are currently on ground working better together to search for the victim.”

Oke-Osanyintolu, however, lamented the spate of suicide, particularly on the Third Mainland Bridge.
He said: “Every 40 seconds, someone thinks about committing suicide and eventually does.”
