The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the State Governor to investigate cases of brutality and human rights abuses by the police and the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has ended sitting.
Chairman of the Panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi told newsmen that it had concluded its assignment.
Okuwobi stated that the long-awaited report of the investigation October 20, 2020 Lekki Tollgate shootings is being prepared.
She added that the report of investigations including the taking of evidence and exhibits has been completed.
The Panel Chairman assured petitioners that the panel’s recommendations would include compensation to victims, if any of the Lekki Tollgate incident.
She added that untreated or inconclusive petitions petitions will be sent to the supervising Lagos State Ministry of Justice. who may set up a human rights body to handle them.
