The Lagos State Government has ordered the closure of all public and private schools with effect from tomorrow, 18th December.
Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance of the Ministry of Education gave the statement today, 17th December.
According to her, the 2020/2021 first term academic session for public and private schools ends on Friday, 18th December.
The directive added that schools will resume on the 4th of January, 2021 while boarding schools are to resume on the 4th of January.
According to the Director-General, “all public and private schools below the tertiary level in the state are to close for the Christmas and new year on that day (18th December).”
“Schools are to resume back on Monday 4th January, 2021 in compliance with the Lagos State harmonised academic calendar.”
The directive also said that all schools must ensure that the submit their safety plans on the Office of Education Quality Assurance website: www.oeqalagos.com.
The plans must give details of operational, academic, health and safety, data and communication plans to complete their registration process.
Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni called on parents to practice and abide by covid19 safety protocols at their various homes.
She advised school proprietors and administrators to ensure compliance with with covid19 safety guidelines when schools resume on the 4th of January.
