Coronavirus Pandemic News - Women's Perspective

Lagos lockdown continues according to the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho.

He stated this amid speculations that residents will be allowed to go out of their houses to shop for the Easter celebrations.

In a twitter feed he said:

“FLASH: The Information going round on some media platforms stating that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has lifted the Lockdown order in Lagos State for ‘Easter Celebration” is FAKE NEWS ….
“Information is FALSE and should be disregarded totally.
Gbenga Omotosho reiterated the continuation of the lockdown at a press briefing yesterday. According to him,  “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-Olu has not relaxed any lockdown. The lockdown is still on and we appeal to Lagosians to continue to obey the directive to continue to be responsible because that is the only way the experts say we can fight the disease.

“The lockdown is still on. If it is going to be relaxed, it is the business of the Federal Government. The announcement is not going to be made by Babajide Sanwo-Olu-Olu because he did not impose it in the first place.”

In another development the Inspector General of Police, speaking through the Force Spokesman, Frank Mba also directed the Commissioners of Police in the states where the order was given by President Muhammadu Buhari to continue to ensure that the order is obeyed.

He cautioned however, that they must ensure that their men conduct themselves with best practices and within the extant laws of Nigeria.

Frank Mba said that the IGP enjoins Christians to celebrate Ester within the confines of their homes.

According to him,

“The IGP calls on religious leaders in Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) as well as other states affected by the restriction orders, to continue to co-operate with the relevant government agencies and use their leadership positions to encourage worshippers to observe prayers and worship programs in the confines of their homes.”
