The Lagos State Government has begun an investigation of the nurses in the viral heartbreaking video of former Big Brother Naija Star, Rico Swavey moments before he died.
The reality TV star passed away on Thursday morning, days after he was involved in a ghastly motor accident in Lagos.
In the video which made the rounds of social media, Rico was seen sitting on a chair while receiving oxygen as the nurses seemed confused and contemplating how to move him into the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
Blood was seen, dripping on the floor from one of his hands which was left dangling from his body as stayed unprofessionally propped up on a chair.
One of the nurses was heard saying, ‘Oya, make we carry am now go inside’ while someone in the background laughed.
Another nurse said, “His oxygen is 90%. You people should stop making videos and let’s move him. Somebody is in critical condition and you’re making videos.”
The video sparked outrage on social media with some Nigerians calling for the immediate dismissal of the staff for their lackadaisical attitude and lack of professionalism toward the reality TV star.
The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a chat with PUNCH revealed the hospital is not a government facility.
He said the state has also commenced an investigation into the unprofessional conduct of nurses that appeared in the viral video.
He said: “That hospital is not a government hospital; we have started an investigation into the unprofessional conduct of those who appeared in that video.”
