The Lagos State government has directed the closure of all public and schools.
This follows the rising tension and difficulty commuting to various locations in the state and Lagos City in particular.
Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, Commissioner for Education issued the directive on Monday. According to her, the safety of students/pupils, parents and staff was paramount in these trying times.
The statement was signed by the Head, Public Affairs, Ministry of Education, Kayode Abayomi.
It quoted the Commissioner as advising parents and guardians to keep an eye on their wards.
He added that they must not allow them to be used as willing tools in the hands of mischievous elements who would want to use them to hijack the protests to unleash mayhem on the general public.
Mrs Adefisayo also urged schools to explore other means of distant learning and teaching as they did during the cover19 lockdown. Some of the recommended methods include radio, television and online media.
The Commissioner added that a new resumption date will be announced as soon as possible.
