The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) operatives have have recounted how they rescued 3 road users involved in a ghastly motor accident on the Gbagada bridge along the Oworonsowoki Expressway in Lagos.
The casualties were immediately transferred to the Gbagada General Hospital for proper medical attention.
A statement released on Thursday by the Director, Public Affairs Department LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the accident involving a fully loaded tanker that rammed into six vehicles in motion.
Taofiq added that preliminary investigations revealed a brake failure in the tanker as the reason for the accident.
The statement read part, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the fully loaded tanker after losing control due to brake failure rammed into six other vehicles (three commercial vehicles, three private cars & one LASTMA bike) while descending Gbagada bridge inward Ifako on the expressway.
“LASTMA Oluwole confirmed that those casualties were severely injured and rushed to Gbagada General Hospital for medical treatment by a LASTMA Trooper who was also among those wounded during the accident.
“He confirmed further that while the accident occurred around 6:10 pm today, policemen from Alonge Police Station at Oworonsoki were equally at the scene of the accident.
“The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, however called on the association regulating activities of tanker operators to always educate their drivers on the need to observe speed limit whenever they are driving on public roads.”
