Late Funsho Williams Trends as Shehu Sani Reacts to GEJ’s Warning Not To Vote for Killer Politicians

News - Women's Perspective

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani on Monday morning stirred social media platforms causing people to remember Late Funsho Williams.

This comes after claiming that none of the 2023 presidential candidates has a record of being a killer.

It is assumed by many Nigerians that Shehu Sani spoke tongue-in-cheek after he made reference to a warning credited to former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan ahead of the 2023 elections.

During the weekend, Jonathan warned Nigerian voters to ensure they do not vote for killers in the 2023 general elections.

Responding, Senator Shehu Sani said in a tweet that “None of the Presidential Candidates have any record of been a Killer. But GEJ once occupied a vantage position for him to know better and deeper than the rest of us.Time will tell.”

The former lawmaker’s post has since stirred torrents of reactions as many in Lagos in particular recalled the gruesome death of an influential politician and former PDP chieftain in Lagos State, Anthony Olufunsho Williams.

Williams was believed to be a strong contender for the seat of Lagos State Governor when he was murdered by yet-to-be-identified assailants in his Lagos home just before the elections.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has also been dragged into the arguments.

They recalled a publication credited to a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.

It could be recalled that in 2015, Fani-Kayode who decamped from the APC to the PDP then, alleged that APC was full of snakes and vampires.

Fani-Kayode made the publication in his widely published statement then that Williams who aspired to become a governor of Lagos State was killed by some evil, power-hungry and callous men.

He further mentioned that the deceased was a formidable political adversary of Tinubu at the time and issued a warning that he must not be killed himself.

In another statement, Fani-Kayode recalled how Tinubu got arrested on no less than two occasions by the American authorities over alleged money laundering.

Internet users, on Monday, dug up the APC chieftain’s claims after seeing Sani’s post on Twitter.

Another post after the EndSARs protest also caught the attention of the public:

Reactions:

@mistabernard Replying to @ShehuSani: “Time will tell… We know who the killer is among these set of contestants. Oct 1st still remains a mystery”

“Who killed Funsho Williams? Is he not among the contestants? Why are you saying none of them has record of being a killer? How many persons have Lagos Agberos liked while working for Tinubu and MC Oluomo? Abegi” – a Twitter user, Dickson Okorie [@MrDickson_O] asked.

@EthereumBlog  – “The incident of Funsho William’s death and death of Endsar protesters can help us point to who GEJ is referring.

Godwin Ibadin @GIbadin – “Very contradictory statement. Do we have any record where killers are named? Are their past and present activities not enough to know who they are? GEJ does not need to mention names, we know them and the message is very clear.
