Lawmaker Killed by Unknown Gunmen

A lawmaker in Song Local Government Council of Adamawa, Ishaya Bakano is reported to have been killed on Saturday morning by unknown gunmen.

According to residents, the gunmen invaded the residence of the lawmaker in his hometown, Bannga, shot his son and whisked him away before killing him few hours after he was abducted.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the State police command, Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje noted that security agencies are all out to apprehend the perpetrators, adding that the Police are investigating the killing.

Until his death, the deceased was the deputy leader of Song Local Government Council.

He represented Gudu Mboi Ward in the Council.

There are speculations that the incident might be a case of assassination.

The son of the lawmaker who was shot during the attack is receiving treatment at a hospital.

Gunmen in the past few weeks have attacked several residents and killed some.

Bakano’s murder is coming after assailants killed a lecturer at the Adamawa state polytechnic in his residence in Girei Local Government of Adamawa State.

Unknown gunmen invaded the residence of Reverend Daniel Umaru of Church of The Brethren, Njairi in Mubi LGA shooting the pastor, killing two of his sons, and abducting his 13-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on the 6th of July.
