Several Nigerian lawmakers were caught on camera completely detached and sleeping during President Muhammadu Buhari’s presentation of the 2022 appropriation bill to the National Assembly.

In a live video presentation broadcast across national and major private Television stations on Thursday, no fewer than 3 lawmakers were caught in deep sleep during the address.

It was not possible to identify the lawmakers involved as they were all masked up in line with covid-19 safety protocols.

The President submitted a N16.39 trillion 2022 budget proposal to the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives for consideration.

The proposal includes appropriations for government enterprises.

With a crude oil benchmark price of $57 per barrel and a daily oil production estimate of 1.88 million barrels per day, the proposed total expenditure for the coming year is put at N16.39 trillion.

The Fiancee Minister, Zainab Ahmed, yesterday defended government’s plans for more borrowings. She said the country needed to borrow to fund capital expenditure.
