Lebanese Man Who Put Nigerian Woman up For Sale Arrested

The Lebanese Man who put a Nigerian woman up for sale has been arrested by that country’s government.

Wael Jerro put up an advert on a Facebook auction group asking for buyers for a “Domestic worker from Nigeria …with new legal documents. She is 30 years old, she is very active and very clean. Price: $1,000″

The advertisement was displayed with lady, Peace Ufuoma’s international passport.

The Lebanese Man ‘s sales advert on Facebook attracted widespread condemnation both within and outside Nigeria.

Sequel to viral condemnations of the auction, Dabiri added yesterday “that the Lebanese government issued a statement describing the act as illegal, inhuman, with a promise to prosecute him (Jerro) for trafficking.”

“She also said that the Nigerian “mission has demanded that the girl be returned in good health” to them.

Jerro’s arrest was announced by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri on her Twitter handle.

Dabiri’s tweet:

“Breaking news on Trafficked Nigerian girl for sale on Facebook by a Lebanese !The Lebenese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. WAEL JERRO for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl”

She later reported that the woman has been rescued. Reports also say her trafficker will be prosecuted in Lebanon by the government.

Earlier in the year, another Nigeria woman was subjected to torture and domestic abuse by her Lebanese master. According to the woman, the boss had ceased her phone, wouldn’t grant her access to medical care when she took ill and even ceased her international passport.

She managed to steal her phone and put up an posted a video call for help. The call soon went viral on social media following which Abike Dabiri sought her rescue in collaboration with her state government and the Nigerian embassy in Beirut.

She was soon returned home to reunite with her family.
