It is exactly 5 months or 150 days since the abrupt end to the #EndSARS protest with the #lekkitollgateshooting.
Men in military uniform arrived the protest venue and fired live bullets at the youths chanting the National Anthem and waiving the Nigeria flag.
Some are reported killed while many were maimed as a result of the gun shots. The judicial panel set up to investigate the shootings as well police brutality has not been able to ascertain who ordered the shooting.
Today, 20th March, Nigerian youths are mourning their friends and loved ones whom they tag as martyrs.
The youths trouped en-mass across the country in October 2020 to protest the wanton police brutality meted out to them by the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
They kicked against unwarranted extra-judicial killings and unjustified harassment of any youth. Those most targeted are those with dreadlocks, using high-end smart phones, laptops or even driving flashy cars.
They demand to know who ordered the #lekkitollgateshootng and insist that the 20th of every month is set aside to celebrate those who laid down their lives for a better country.
Reactions:
FS Yusuf@FS_Yusuf_·”150 days after, no one has been arrested for #LekkiMassacre. This is not a normal country. People died! People died! We won’t forget! We will continue to harass our govt with reminders until justice is served.”
Alumandu Emeka #EndSARS@alumsson· “5 months after the carnage by the Nigerian army on peaceful #EndSARS at the #lekkitollgate, Victims of #LekkiMassacre are yet to get justice. No one has been held responsible or accountable. The impunity of the state yet continues. Our question persists WHO ORDERED THE SHOOTING ?”
Ekundayo Caeser@dayo_dynamo·5 months ago, they murdered innocent youths. May their soul forever hunt those who ordered their killing. Rest in Power
