Following the famers/herders clashes across the country, controversial Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi has implored Nigerians to “let us live in peace.”
He said this when he visited Igboho town in Oye State.
The cleric has also made several appeals to the Federal government to grant amnesty to bandits and terrorists an stop the military operations in Zamfara State.
In the course of his visit to Igboho town, Sheikh Gumi called n Yoruba Nation agitators to shelve their agitation and work at living together.
He added that there is nothing that warrants the quest for separation from Nigeria. He advised his hosts not allow the elites turn them against each other.
The Cleric was accompanied by the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Usman Yusuf.
According to him, “This is a place where where where I think Nigerians need to understand that we need to live together. Because I have seen nothing here that can warrant people to agitate that they should be separated from our beloved country Nigeria.
“This is Igboho, made famous by a detainee in Benin Republic.
“Nigeria is one and will always remain one. We are just from the hinterland (referring to Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten local government area of Kwara State), where we have seen examples of how people should live.
“And this is why we are here. Nigeria is our country, and we are working to see how we can all come together all faiths. We don’t want the kind of poisoned Nigeria by Igboho.
“And people saying Nigeria is divided. No. It is the elites that are diving Nigeria, not the common people. The common people are all the same.”
