The Living Faith Church, also Known as Winners Chapel, Igbogene, was sealed off on Sunday for violating the Bayelsa State #COVID19 lock down directive.
Also sealed off are Salvation Victory Centre, Shalom International Christian Centre, Great Grace Distinguished Assembly, Okutukutu, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Opolo and Hebrews International Church, Ayama Road.
The Governor Seriake Dickson led administration had relaxed the lockdown order on the 7th of May. The ease of lockdown allowed social gatherings and church worshipers of not more than 50 people.
Government relaxed the lockdown with strict social protocols. The protocols include the adequate spacing in sitting arrangements, provision of hand washing equipments, and wearing of face masks.
Unfortunately, during a surveillance exercise on Sunday, the Living Faith Church as well as the other listed churches were found to have flaunted all the directives. The information was given in a statement to NAN by the Permanent Secretary, Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, Mr Festus Akpor.
According to him:
“The six churches were sealed for failure to comply with safety measures put in place by the government to contain the spread of the pandemic and protect the people of Bayelsa.
Speaking further, Akpor said that “the churches will remain sealed until further notice to serve as a deterrent to other churches.
“The move will help in ensuring that other churches adhere to the protocols on washing, use of face masks and social distancing as measures to check the spread of the virus in the state.”
