The death has been announced of the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Hon Emmanuel Leweh.
Reports say that he slumped in the office on Monday, January 10, 2022 shortly after a meeting with some senior staff members of the local government area.
Leweh was sworn into office in October 2021 for a 3-year term.
The local government chairman did not die immediately. He is said to have been moved to a private hospital in Abuja where he passed away while reaching treatment.
Before his death, the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule and his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe visited him at the hospital in Abuja.
Confirming the demise, of the politician, a member representing Akwanga South in the State House of Assembly, Samuel Tsebe who is also his younger brother, said he died after a brief illness.
According to him, “I lost my elder brother (Hon Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, Executive Chairman of Akwanga LGA) to the cold hand of death this evening after a brief illness.”
