Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff relocates to the centre of the Boko Haram war.
He promises to finally route out the remnants of Boko Haram from his new base. According to him, he will also administer every other Nigerian Army operation from there.
Announcing the development, the Nigerian Army Headquarters posted that:
“While addressing the troops of Special Super Camp Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State on 9th April 2020, Gen Buratai said that he will be with them to the nooks and crannies of the theatre.
“It will be recalled that we earlier reported that the COAS had been on operational tour to troops’ locations in the North East Theatre of Operation since Saturday, the 4th of April, 2020.”
Lt Gen Tukur Buratai ‘ s movement coincides with an announcement by Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno. Itno said that his troops will no longer fight the Boko Haram jihadists outside the Chadian borders.
He highlighted the lack of enthusiasm of allied armies in a recent offensive against Boko Haram insurgents where had an unusual number of casualties.
In 2 separate broadcasts in Arabic and French, the Chadian president said:
“Our troops have died for Lake Chad and the Sahel. From today, no Chadian soldiers will take part in a military mission outside Chad.”
Recently, the commander of Operation Lafia DoleĀ Major General Olusegun Adeniyi, Commander of Troops Fighting Boko Haram was Sacked for Complaining about Poor Combat Equipment.
However, during President Muhammadu Buhari’s acceptance speech at the Eagle’s Square in 2015, he had announced that the Army Operations will relocate to the operational base of the Boko Haram.
