Maersk Denies Investing $600 Million with Nigeria

News - Women's Perspective

Maersk has said news that it signed a $600m investment with Nigeria is untrue.

Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga had made the claim on his Twitter page. He claimed that the company pledged the investment after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting, A.P Moller-Maersk chairman Robert Maersk Uggla said he met with Tinubu but never made a deal for such an investment.

“Maersk has been present in Nigeria for 35 years and, as a global provider of logistics services, we remain committed to develop opportunities for growth to people, the port sector and businesses locally,” the company said in a statement to Lloyd’s List.

Maersk later responded to Totus Odirri of the same TV station:
