Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire says that the major causes of covid19 deaths in Nigeria are hypertension and diabetes.
Giving further insights, Ehanire said that 70% occur in men while women account for 30%.
The Heat Minister added that 50% of cases of deaths happen at home with patients who showed absolutely no symptoms, ie asymptomatic patients.
He gave the information on Thursday, 21st May at the Presidential Task Force on Covid19 (#PTFCOVID19) daily briefing.
“This underscores my earlier emphasis on the need for those who test positive to report for treatment.
“I would also advise those who have taken the test and are awaiting results to heed the advisory to self-isolate from friends, wear face masks and observe hand and respiratory hygiene until your result is out so that your community and those around you will not necessarily be exposed.”
