Mamman Daura Flown Abroad for Urgent Medical Treatment

Mamman Daura is reported to have been flown abroad for urgent medical treatment.

He was air-lifted in a private jet on Wednesday according to the reports. The retired journalist is said to be having respiratory difficulties and symptoms similar to the corona virus disease since Friday, last week.

The 80-year-old is nephew of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and the last-man-standing of the alleged “cabal” of the administration.

A long time confidant of the president, Daura is reported to have great influence over decisions taken by the number 1 citizen. He is believed to have worked closely with late Abba Kyari and a few close knit confidants to arrive at many of the decisions taken by their principal.

Many Nigerians have questioned reasons he has taken up residence in the official quarters of the president. This is more so as he has no official political appointment.

In a recent face-off with the respected South-South Chieftain, Chief Edwin Clark, Mamman Dauran is reported to propose that zoning the presidency is not necessary in Nigeria.

According to him, competency should take the front burner. This stirred up anger among the South-South and the South East who believe the presidency should come to the South East in 2013. This is more so as the the North has held power for many years.

As Mamman Daura was flown abroad for medical attention yesterday, mixed reactions have trailed his sudden trip.

His close friend and another close confidant of the president, Abba Kyari died of complications arising from #COVID19 in April 2020.
