“We are lending our voices to condemning rape and all forms of sexual violence.
Rape is a heinous and abhorrent crime.
We need to do better as humans, we need to realize that No means No!! And for criminal elements who have taken delight in defiling our little girls, we want you to know that wherever you are, we would find you and you will face the fullest extent of the law.

“Lagos is very competent in handling these issues, but there is a cultural and entitlement mentality we must end as we join hands to stop rape.

“While Lagos has a sex offenders register and recognised offices and agencies for rape and other crimes of a sexual nature, we must work together to kick this behaviour and mentality out of our society

“We must protect our women and children at all costs using legal, legislative and executive powers .

“We have directed our security officials to be extra sensitive and alert to these cases. Please, you have a part to play in your homes, schools, religious institutions and offices. Speak up if you’re a victim of this crime or you’re a witness to it. Silence means complicity.”
