A native of Ezinifite, in Nnewi Soth local government area of Anambra state identified as Kosarachukwu Ugwuka has publicly confessed to poisoning his elder brother, Chukwudi Ugwuka to death over a piece of land.
Kosarachukwu made the confession before a popular shrine in Nando area in Anambra East local government area on Sunday, July 10.
According to a family member who shared the story on social media, Kosarachukwu had denied his involvement in his brother’s death until he was taken to the shrine.
The deceased, Chukwudi Josiah Ugwka had died on April 27 2022 after battling a series of mysterious sicknesses.
Sharing the video of Kosarachukwu confessing to his crime in Igbo language, a villager captioned it; “Two people were accused of Chukwud’s death. They were Kosarachukwu and a nephew. When both of them were repeatedly interrogated, the nephew maintained that he was innocent, while Kosarachuwu also continued to deny that he did not have any hand in the death.
“As a result, the villagers had to resort to using traditional means to unravel the truth. They took them to a popular shrine at Nando on Sunday, July 10 to swear before the deity to prove their innocence.
“After his nephew had sworn and was vindicated, Kosarachukwu was hooked ad instantly blinded by the deity while swearing which made him to confess immediately.
“It was during the confession that he revealed that he killed his elder with rat poison because of land dispute.”
In the video that was shared online captured Kosarachukwu kneeling and confessing at the shrine while being interrogated by the villagers.
He could be heard saying in Igbo: ‘‘I poisoned my brother to death with rat poison over land.”
