Family Discourse

A woman has shared her story about how she reported her husband to the US Embassy which resulted in him being deported.

She explained that he had gone to the United States for two years to study. However, once he graduated and started working, he became less involved and stopped sending money for their upkeep. She was then left to take care of herself and their three children.

She explained that he had gone to the United States for two years to study. While he was studying, they kept in touch often, and she didn’t ask him for money because he was still a student.

However, once he graduated and started working, he became less involved and stopped sending money for their support.

During her visit to his village to discuss the matter, she learned that he was building a house.

The woman said that she had to take serious steps when he told her to marry someone else and send their kids to his mom.

She gathered all the evidence of their marriage and their children and went to the embassy to report him. Since he had claimed to be single in his interview and his visa was no longer valid, he was deported from the US.

She wrote…

My ex husband left to abroad to study for 2 years. When he left, we had 3 children. Because he was going to study and not work, I decided not to burden him with money and raise the kids with my money solely until he begins to work or come back home. After the 2 years, he decided to stay and work. He sent money 4 times and started giving excuses. I wasn’t understanding because how was he expecting me to feed and cater for 3 children alone. This went on and on and after constant arguments, he’d send a meager amount. Then he stopped picking my calls and texts. I went to report him to his people in the village and I realised there was a building project going on in his compound. I suspected he was the one funding it.

His mother didn’t say anything sensible to me. When j got back, I sent him a long paragraph and he replied saying he’s moved on and so if I find someone to marry, I can marry. If I’m tired too, I can send the kids to his mum. I took matters into my own hands. I went to the American embassy with my marriage papers, wedding pictures, my children and their birth A certificates and told them their father had abandoned them on me Unfortunately for him, during his visa interview, he said he was single with no children. He had also overstayed and didnt have papers. They deported him back sharp.

When he came back, my people sent his family the bride price and i ended the marriage.

His people are calling me a witch and an evil woman. The thing has passed his head. They say he hasn’t been himself since.

My brothers have taken responsibility of my children. By GOD’s grace, we’re soaring.
