The survivor is said to have been rescued around 12:00 midnight on Monday, 1st of November.

Rescue teams at the scene have so far retrieved 10 corpses while many others are still trapped in the rubbles of the building that officially failed integrity tests.

A contractor who was engaged to take the building from the approved 15 storeys to 21 storeys had withdrawn his services in February 2020 citing unprofessional practices.

Lagos State government had also sealed off the building in June 2020. However, the alleged owner, Femi Osibona engaged the services of an Italian contractor to complete the project.

The Italian team was seen being introduced to the public by the owner in a video that also went viral.

Sadly, the massive structure went down like a pack of cards in the afternoon of November 1. Each floor lay squarely on top of the other.

Ikoyi is the most affluent neighborhood of Lagos, located in Eti-OsaLocal Government Area.It lies to the northeast of Obalende and adjoins Lagos Island to the west, and at the edge of the Lagos Lagoon.
