The Lagos State Police Command has announced that the man who jumped into the Ikoyi Link Bridge end of the Lagos Lagoon was high on hard drugs.

The Command noted that the deceased was a dispatch rider whose corpse was recently recovered after he took the fatal leap.

The man has been identified as Buka Abana, who according to the police, was a drug addict who has been taking synthetic cannabinoids, popularly called Colorado.

Colorado is a cocktail of psychotropic drugs commonly used by many Nigerian youths.

He left home for two days and in the process of searching for him, he sighted the family members and jumped into the lagoon as soon as he saw them.



Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said; 

“The man’s name is Buka Abana. He was aged 30. He had been taking Colorado hard drugs. He left home for two days and in the process of searching for him, he sighted the family members and jumped into the lagoon as soon as he saw them.”

A mental health survivor, Tomi Waziri recommends that anyone going through mental challenges or feeling suicidal should seek hep early. He also advised that the public must not blame victims but help them as much as they can.
