Many Injured as Herdsmen Attack Kwara APC Chieftain’s Farm

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have attacked a farm belonging to Alhaji Tajudeen Aro, Publicity Secretary, Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reports say that the herders who migrated from Idanre in Osun State stormed the farm located at Offa, behind the Offa University at about 6:00pm on Friday.

They escaped soon after launching the attack while the farmers alerted the NSCDC JTF division.

Babawale Zaid Afolabi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State said that the farmers resisted the attack and in an attempt to overpower the suspected herdsmen, a 27-year-old farmer, Yakub Salasi was seriously injured.

Many others sustained various degrees of injuries and were all moved to Abdulsalam Hospital, Offa.

Reports also say that while efforts were made to arrest the herdsmen, many of their cattle were injured and seized by the aggrieved farmers.

Alhaji Sabo Yaro, a Fulani man, in an attempt to broker peace, promised security agents that he would fish out the suspects.
