At least 39 people are reported killed after rockets hit a train station in the city of Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine.
The Governor of Donetsk disclosed that thousands of people trying to flee Russian attack were at the station during the attack.
Russia invaded neighbouring Ukraine in February 2022 and the war has persisted since then with many citizens of Ukraine fleeing to neighbouring counties or returning to their home countries.
BBC reports that Russia has denied involvement in today’s train station strike, with a Kremlin spokesman saying it had no scheduled missions in the area.
There are reports that Russia has intensified its attack in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine as it withdraws from the north.
Cities in Donbas came under heavy Russian attack overnight, with residents sheltering in basements and Severodonetsk hit by rocket fire.
