Presidential Spokesman and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu says the over 43 rice farmers who were massacred by Boko Haram did not get military clearance before resuming their farming activities.
Expressing sadness about the incident, Shehu said that life at the Lake Chad basin is not what it used to be.
He added that in as much as much of the farming spaces have been liberated from the terrorist group, #BokoHaram there are still portions that are not yet safe for villagers.
According to him, “The truth has to be said. Was there any military clearance from the military who are in total control of the area ?
“Did anybody ask to resume activity ?”

The United Nations, over the weekend, reported that the actual number of slaughtered farmers was 110.
In a report by the UN Resident Coordinator, Edward Kallon, the world body added that “several women may have been kidnapped. I call for their immediate release and return to safety.”
