Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Ahmed and Kashim Shettima, vice-president-elect, have moved into the Defence House in Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT), ahead of their inauguration on May 29.
The director media and publicity Tinubu/Shettima campaign organization, Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday, tweeted the development.
A former Senator, 2-time Governor of Lagos State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu returned to the country on Monday after a 32-day stint abroad.
He travelled to Paris on vacation after a hard-fought election in which he was declared winner.
He polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who secured 6,101,533 votes to come third.
The Defence House, located in the Maitama district of Abuja will serve as a temporary residence until Tinubu and Shetima take the oath of office on May 29 after which they will move to the Aso Rock villa.
The President-elect is expected to receive briefings and hold key meetings at the residence.
He was accompanied to the house by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, among others.
The residence was also a brief home to President Muhammadu Buhari after he won the presidential election in 2015.
