There was a fire outbreak midday today, Wednesday at the Household of David church in the Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State.
A viral video clip shows people moving around the scene as the raging fire continued in broad daylight.
Confirming the incident to journalists, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire Service, Amodu Shakiri, revealed that the church’s auditorium ceiling had become excessively hot, leading to its collapse. A spike thereafter ignited some electrical appliances and spread uncontrollably.
Giving an update, the lead Pastor said the Church workers were setting up for a conference when they got information that there was a spark. Within minutes, the fire spread out of control.
He regretted that a member of the public came into the premises and mocked them, asking where JESUS was while the fire raged.
The cleric said he owes skeptics no explanation except to thank GOD that no life was lost.
He added that the conference will still hold somewhere else, within the premises.
He further stated that the fire department, along with other pertinent agencies, are currently working diligently to control and mitigate the damage caused by the fire.
