Women’s rights activist Laila St Matthew-Daniel has regretted that the DSS was quick to use technology to capture and arrest the alleged mastermind of Anambra lawmaker’s gruesome murder.

Men of the Department of State Service, DSS arrested the 70-year-old suspect, Chukwujekwu Onuorah, alleged to be the mastermind of the abduction and beheading of a member of the state’s House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye.

Laila St Matthey-Daniel took to her Facebook on Thursday, June 2, to express her observation.

According to her, the security operatives captured the prime suspect using technology but can not track bandits and kidnappers terrorising the North East.

Laila St. Matthew-Daniel said: “Can you see how DSS used technology to capture the alleged mastermind of the lawmakers killers! But they can”t track kidnappers in the North East.”

Reactions:

Kayode Aderemi: But lack of political will may not allow them to carry out their job effectively

Tafa Dauda: Because the ones captured aren’t their agents. The Nigerian Security Services are the mastermind behind kidnappings, gun runnings, insurgency, terrorism in the land. It is their cash cow model for extracting wealth from the society. It doesn’t threaten their existence as the State apparatus so these crimes aren’t classified as existential threats to them. It is when you start armed rebellion without their backing and start hoisting a foreign flag that triggers their reactions. It is impossible to run an organsed violent crime group in Nigeria without the support and connivance of the Nigerian State.

Beatrice Olateru Olagbegi: They are saving them for a reason. We wait and see
