Missing Community Chief Imam of Ijebu-Ode Found Dead in a Car

The Chief Imam of Atiba community in Ijebu-Ode Ode, Sheikh Mushafau Bakare who was declared missing has been found dead in a car.

Sheikh Bakare was reported to have been abducted on Wednesday night by unknown gunmen following which relatives and friends raised an alarm.

Sadly, his lifeless body was later found in his newly acquired Toyota Highlander SUV on Thursday morning around the Ikangba area in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

His remains were discovered by police officers attached to the Obalende Division Police Office, Ijebu-Ode Ode.

A source said that his mobile phone rang for hours while a search for his whereabouts was ongoing.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi dismissed speculations that the Chief Imam was abducted or killed saying his lifeless body was only found in his car.

According to him, the was “no mark of violence on the cleric’s bodying the body was found in his vehicle.

“There is nothing like gunmen or kidnapping in this case. The Imam left home fo an outing and when he did not return on time, his relatives who had been calling his phone which was not picked, reported to the police.

The information we have at our disposal is that the man was hypertensive, it is possible that the man had a crisis and there was nobody to render assistance to him at that particular time,” the Police PRO said.
