A video has emerged of the moment Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Saturday night withdrew his ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 as he stepped down for Atiku.
Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, asked his supporters to pass their loyalty to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The Sokoto State governor announced he was withdrawing from the presidential race at the Special National Convention of the PDP holding at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Tambuwal’s choice of stepping down for Atiku comes as a surprise to many considering he is generally known to be an ally of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
In 2018, Wike stood solidly behind the Sokoto State Governor in his quest to become president. Unfortunately, he lost to President Buhari. .
