"Gist"

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a fake lawyer identified as Aladejobi during the trial of Ismaila Mustapha alias Mompha.

The lawyer claimed to be a lawyer to one of the sureties to Mompha.

He appeared up in court with a letter requesting for the court proceedings on behalf of his surety.

This was after Justice Dada gave a pronouncement that Mompha be arrested for jumping bail.

The EFCC prosecuting counsel Mr Rotimi Oyedepo thereafter asked that he be taken to court for proper profiling and interrogation.

Mompha is being prosecuted by the EFCC on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy to launder funds obtained through unlawful activity, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, laundering of funds obtained through unlawful activity, failure to disclose assets and property, possession of documents containing false pretence and use of property derived from unlawful act.

He was arrested, charged to court and later granted bail.
