Popular Nigerian comedian, Debo Adedayo better known as Mr Macaroni yesterday, caused a major public reaction as he confronted a group of policemen who allegedly extorted many from a young man in dreadlocks.
In the now viral video, the unidentified young man with a backpack narrated how he was accosted by some police officers who forced him to transfer N30,000 to one of their accounts.
The young man, almost in tears, said they threatened to take him to, and detain him at their station if he did not release the money.
He added that nothing incriminating was found on him, neither was he involved in any crime.
Angry with the action of the policemen, Mr Macaroni could be heard nudging civilians at the scene to capture the officers’ identities. He called their behaviour unlawful and criminal.
The courageous action of the comedian has once again earned him the admiration of the public.
He has remained at the forefront of the #EndSARS movement and spearheaded the 1-year anniversary of the Lekki Tollgate shooting by men in Nigerian Army uniform.
