The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has challenged on the All Progressives Congress, APC, to mention the name of its officials who were at the unveiling of its vice presidential candidate Kashim Shettima.
The challenge came less than 24hrs after the association disassociated itself from the alleged bishops visit.
Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the President of CAN threw the challenge in his short reaction sent to journalists in Abuja.
Oladeji said: “Let them name the CAN officials at the programme and their offices. If they could use 2017 photos to claim that some Pastors visited Shettima and lied that Pastor E. A Adeboye has endorsed them, they could do anything.
“Our position on Muslim-Muslim ticket is irreversible. Anybody can claim anything but one thing is clear, CAN was not part of the unveiling programme of Shettima.”
The spokesperson for the Catholic Church Headquarters in Abuja, Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku had earlier said the bishops are not their representatives.
According to Alumuku, the way the bishops conducted themselves shows that they are fake and not Catholic Church officials.
There had been claims that the clerics were hired to attend the event to dowse the controversy on the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party.
