‘My Husband Beats Me Anytime He Wants to Have S*x with Me’ – Wife Tells Court

Family Discourse

A man identified simply as Gbadebo has dragged his wife, Oyinlola to a Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A report by Nigerian Tribune quotes Gbadebo as saying that living with Oyinlola has been challenging, citing her as a difficult person to coexist with.

As the court proceedings unfolded, both parties presented their sides of the story, emphasizing the challenging nature of their marriage.

Praying the court to dissolve their marriage, Gbadebo said that Oyinlola’s behavior has been a source of constant turmoil in their marriage. He alleged that she is not only troublesome but also prone to violence, engaging in extra-marital affairs and following practices he deems as strange and awkward.

In his evidence, Gbadebo recounted a shocking incident where he caught Oyinlola with another man in their home. The discovery led to a temporary separation, with Oyinlola moving out of their shared residence.

He expressed frustration, stating that he endured the relationship for as long as he could but believes that his well-being is at stake if he continues to stay married to Oyinlola.

On her part, Oyinlola vehemently denied the accusations insisting that Gbadebo was cruel, accusing him of physical abuse, especially when he desired intimacy. She added that she often found herself sent out into the cold streets at night after such incidents.

She added that Gbadebo was being neglectful when it comes to playing his role as a father.

According to her,

“I have suffered a lot in the hands of my husband. He has been unfair to me.

“I do not enjoy sex with my husband because he beats me every time he wants to sleep with me.

“My husband has failed in his responsibilities towards me and our children. He hardly gives us money for food, while he is nonchalant towards our children’s education.”

The court president, Mrs. S.M Akintayo, adjourned the case, leaving room for further examination of the evidence presented and a potential resolution to the marital dispute.
