An Abuja-based businesswoman, Eucharia Uzo, has approached a customary court in Nyanya to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Obi Uzo after he sent thieves to burgle her shop.
In her plea, Eucharia said she cannot endure the troubles at Uzo’s house any longer as the latter has vowed never to allow her to become wealthier than he is.
Eucharia claimed that the thieves burgled her shop and whisked away her goods, leaving her in pain.
The petitioner who resides in Abacha road made the assertions in a divorce petition she filed against her husband in court on Friday.
“My husband vowed that I will never be greater than him under his roof, that was the reason why he stopped my business of mineral, snacks and recharge cards.
“Then my father gave me money to start a foodstuff business, my husband sent thieves to burgle my shop and they made away with all my goods. One of them later confessed that my husband sent them,” Eucharia reportedly said at the court.
She begged the court to dissolve the marriage and free her from the bondage called marriage.
However, the respondent who is said to be a mechanic denied the allegations against him by his wife at the court.
Uzo urged the court to grant the petitioner divorce.
The presiding Judge, Shitta Mohammed, however, adjourned the matter until Sept. 22 for judgment.
